three colours: white - en

it’s a bit shame that i have postponed watching “three colours” for years but i believe everything happened in life needed to happen in that particular way for some reason that we cannot always comprehend.

all of the three movies in this beautiful trilogy show us a woman and a man. blue, i found pretty yet the most distant to me. julie had some kind of “liberty” at the end fortunately but it didn’t stick with me much. red was prettier, more hopeful somehow. not for valentine particulary but for the two men of the movie, young and old judge. both got betrayed by the woman they love and valentine comes to the rescue at the grand finale! blue was the story of julie, red was feeling like story of valentine but it’s judges’ story. although it’s not the only criteria when we are feeling a movie, book or a song but we unintentionally get drawn to art that we find relevant to our life.

like i said above, i believe it’s almost always hard for a man to relate to a female character and vice versa. so maybe white made the most influence over me, i am stating this because i saw that white is the least favourite of the three as far as i see.

among these three, i liked the white the most and watched with my full attention compared to first and third movies of three colours. from the movie poster, i initially thought it will be about julie delpy, which i wouldn’t be sad if it was this way either, but it turned out to be about this random polish guy and i believe this is also one of the reasons i liked the white more compared to other ones.

totally broke guy in a foreign land but full of love he is. his ex-lover doesn’t even respect him yet he is full of love, trying to find ways to get back together again, yet dominique, your pretty julie delpy, rejects him in the most radical ways, makes love with strangers. our miserable polish hairdresser guy decides to return to his homeland in a suitcase and his ascension begins.

he somehow totally builds himself from zero. we see him happy doing his craft, he earns money, make great friends, he earns respect, he feels fulfilled. he is the perfect example of self made man. we feel proud for him, at least i felt that way until he literally “simped” for dominique who erased him from her life, she does not even talk to him when he calls. we feel pity for karol again, dude, you built a whole new life, you are rich, just broaden your vision a bit, lol.

after that, we appreciate him though, he made a perfect plan to bring her to poland, she cries for her. he shows himself to her and they make love, he is not having impotence anymore, wow. he leaves the room as a cool boy and dominique gets arrested for suspicious “fake” death of karol. we respect karol again yet at the end he visits jail, sees dominique and get teary and melancholic, he got the “equality” he wanted, love he desired, but at what cost…

so, i am still confused about white, guys. i love the “redemption arc” side of the story yet the “revenge arc” part irritates me a bit. one can defend it’s the pure love and effort for it but i ain’t sure. stuff don’t happen like this in real life. it doesn’t have to be accurate to real life though i am aware.

karol, you are a smart and good guy, i would love to have some votka with you my fella.

yeah, i praised karol but still had to put julie delpy smiling at the wedding to the end.
